Adaptation visit
Service Description
Adaptation visit in pediatric dentistry is the first introductory visit to the dentist, aimed at helping a child develop a positive attitude toward dental treatment and reducing fear of the dentist. This visit is especially recommended for young children or those who have no previous dental experience. During the adaptation visit, the dentist interacts with the child in a friendly, playful atmosphere. The little patient is introduced to the dental office, instruments, and equipment in a simple and understandable way. The dentist explains each action using easy-to-understand language, avoiding terms that might be frightening, which helps reduce anxiety. If an examination is performed, it is superficial and extremely gentle. In most cases, no treatment procedures are carried out—the main goal is for the child to feel calm and safe. The dentist may also provide parents with recommendations on oral hygiene, nutrition, and cavity prevention if needed. The adaptation visit helps the child get used to the dentist without stress and allows the dentist to assess the child’s behavioral characteristics to determine an individual approach. This format makes future treatments easier and reduces the risk of fear during subsequent visits. Regular adaptation visits build trust, encourage a healthy attitude toward dental care, and are an important part of modern pediatric dentistry.
